ELAINE BOYD

I am a fun loving, outgoing person who lives in Edinburgh. I have lived with a disability since birth, and as a result have a unique view of the world and a strong belief that nothing is impossible.
I am an athlete, competing internationally on my frame runner Luna, and an artist who paints with her feet and digitally with her mouth.

I love working with people and am able to connect with almost everyone I meet. My daily life means that I need assistance with many everyday tasks this requires ingenuity, persistence, creativity and an ability to get on with people.

I believe that people need each other and regardless of our
differences we are better together.

In my work with Go Deep I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds and we have always been able to establish common ground and learn from each other.

KIM WARD

Hello, my name is Kim.
I am an experienced Process Work psychotherapist and facilitator, working with people of all ages and social backgrounds in a variety of settings and recently set up my own private practise.

Since qualifying as a process worker in 2009, I have worked as a psychotherapist and facilitator in the LGBTQ+ centre in Edinburgh. I worked 8 years at the Wellspring counselling and psychotherapy centre which offers therapy for people on different economical incomes. Within the children in need’ project, I was pleased to work with kids in schools as I had been a teacher for over 15 years, and very happy to see the counselling cultures in the school context.

I was invited to a Go Deep community building event in 2018 and discovered innovative ways for bringing more creativity and collaboration into my life. In a world of greater violence and polarities it is important to find spaces to explore our concerns for the environment and social inequalities with a sense of fun and discovery in our collective abilities.

I like my creativity, in singing at choir, writing poetry and enjoy my garden, and walking through the hills.

BECS BARKER

Becs has a passion for promoting fairness for all. She started her working life as a volunteer and then as a play-leader at Thames Valley Adventure Playground for disabled children. After completing training as a nurse, a move to Scotland in 2004 saw a change in direction and Becs spent the next few years managing and facilitating peer support with Neighbourhood Networks.

Becs is now a senior manager within Carr Gomm, a Scottish person-centred and community development charity where she leads on inclusion participation, involvement and innovation.

Becs sees that the answers to inclusion and celebrating diversity lies within our communities. She loves spending time with people, finding out our individual and shared stories. She joined Go Deep in 2018 and has found the elements of the game21 have deeply helped people learn about themselves, each other and their wider
community. Becs dreams that all of us will find somewhere to call home, where we all have a strong sense of belonging, of being loved and of being able to contribute.

In her spare time, Becs enjoys being outside exploring, gardening, listening to Scottish trad music and yoga.
